Today we celebrate, think of, and remember those who gave their lives in WWII. 80 years ago today people celebrated the end of the war. For us it is a celebration of remembrance… for them, it marked the arrival of peace, hope, relief, tempered by grief.
Celebrations around the country will be going ahead today and tonight, in Chester a beacon of light will be lit.
My great grandad Ivor fought in WWII. Today we all celebrate our own heroes and everyone who gave their lives for peace.
