Luis Suarez left out of Uruguay World Cup squad

Suarez, 39, has 69 goals in 143 appearances for his international team Uruguay. The former Liverpool and Barcelona attacker recently announced that he would return to the national team if needed, after retiring on the international stage in 2024 after a spat with manager Marcelo Bielsa. However he has been omitted.

Meanwhile another ex-Liverpool striker, Darwin Nunez, is in Marcelo Bielsa’s 26-man-squad, despite his lack of game time for his team Al-Hilal.
