After serving thousands of coffees to the public of Chester, two years after opening, Just Coffee have announced that due to the “rising costs and increasing pressure” on the business, they cannot afford to stay open and will close in December.

Just Coffee of Commonhall St, Chester, has announced its “heartbreaking” closure on social media
Taking over from the Arc Art gallery in 2024, the team have made a huge impact on the community around Chester with very friendly service, luxurious spaces to work, and a comfortable homely establishment for all.
A statement on the Instagram account of Just Coffee reads: “We have made the difficult decision to close Just Coffee.
“The increasing pressure and rising costs over the last couple of months have led us to make this decision.
“To every customer, visitor, freelancer and friend that has supported us along the way – thank you.
“If you’re looking for somewhere to work, hold meetings, host workshops or private gatherings, we encourage you to use this space before the year is out.”

This is not simply an isolated incident where a business has been forced to close recently. Veeno Wine Bar and Kitchen in Chester shut their doors earlier this year.
A Veeno spokesperson said: “Due to the building requiring significant structural workings and renovations, without necessary cooperation from the landlord, we cannot move forward in Chester.
“Chester remains very close to our hearts, we would absolutely welcome reopening in the future, ideally with the support of a financial investor or local franchisee.”
With many mainstream chains such as Costa, Starbucks, and Cafe Nero making a home at multiple around the city centre, the simultaneous closure of small businesses is a concern for many Cestrians.
