The famous grand hotel hairpin on the Monaco track
Formula 1 heads to the streets of Monaco for one of the sport’s most prestigious events, the Monaco Grand Prix, taking place on 7 June 2026.
All eyes will be on Monaco’s own Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari star returns to his home race carrying the hopes of the tifosi and a growing belief that Ferrari’s strengths in slow-speed corners could make them the favourites around the narrow harbour-side circuit. Leclerc has repeatedly stressed that Mercedes remain a threat, but confidence inside the Scuderia appears higher than at any point this season.
Alongside Leclerc, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will be looking to turn Ferrari’s improving pace into a statement result. Monaco has traditionally rewarded experience, precision and qualifying excellence, qualities Hamilton possesses in abundance. A front-row start could put the Briton firmly in contention for victory.
Mercedes, however, arrive with momentum. Teenage sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli has won four consecutive races and leads the Drivers’ Championship by 43 points over teammate George Russell. The Silver Arrows have been the benchmark team of 2026, but Monaco’s unique layout may reduce their advantage. Antonelli himself has suggested Ferrari could be the team to beat this weekend.
